Empress is the only set in the line whose backs are not flat colour. They are a marbled jade, veined light through dark, so a face-down wall reads as stone rather than plastic, the single detail that makes this set look like it cost more than it does. The faces are white and the drawing is bolder than the rest: raspberry peonies with violet stems on the dots, a green dragon on the bam and a red one on the crak, script monograms on the winds, and cut flowers in painted baskets across the flowers and jokers. The layered edge runs green into pink into white.
